This is our Tasha Dog. She was born aproximately at the same time as my
husband and I met. We traded an overly affectionate cat for her when she was
nine months old. Her previous family saved her from the pound.
She is
Labrador and "husky" mixed. Since she was born in Alaska, "husky" may mean
sled dog, or husky, or hybrid. She is an Alpha female, and to this day,
eleven years later, we still have to reestablish dominance every once in a
while. She has only bit one person in her life-a politician! I'm not sure if
that is good taste, or bad.
She has kept my feet warm, and my house safe for
a long time. I can't imagine a more loyal being on this earth. When our cat
had kittens, Tasha would baby-sit them, let them play on her, and lick them
clean, while mom took a well deserved break. When she was five, my daughter
was born. Tasha has looked after and kissed the baby human, too. She would
sit patiently while the two or three year old human climbed on her back. If
she had too much, she would simply slide away to another room.
This dog has
alerted me to moose outside my door, scared malicious looking characters away,
cared for my child, helped my parents get through the loss of their pet 15
year old lab. And last summer she finally caught a squirrel!
